DAY#14 of 365-Back for More Great Theatre and Massaging away Chronic Pain
Today I returned to the Sutherland-Chan Massage School and Teaching Clinic Sutherland and Chan Massage School and Clinic. I was accepted to one of their specialty clinics due to surgery I had a few years ago. So for the next 7 weeks I will have the injured area massaged and treated to help relieve the chronic pain, congestion and tightness. The cost for these special clinic massages is *ONLY* $15/hr. I am so glad I discovered a place that has these really affordable 1 HR massage rates for only $38/hr.
Years of trying to get relief of chronic pain by taking pain killers has not worked. But in the past week I am feeling so much better. The students and the staff are so welcoming and nice. I had a new student who was massaging me for the these special sessions. She is very nice and instantly made me feel comfortable.
Certain things were pointed out to me and it was great getting more awareness about my body and how everything is so connected. The human body is truly fascinating. A real miracle. I was reminded to take better care of it, every single day.
I had tickets to see another play called The Red Queen Effect by the collective of Seventh Stage Productions. It is part of the Next Stage Theatre Festival The Next Stage Festival. It was playing at the Factory Theatre at 125 Baturst St. I enjoy these smaller theartre houses. You get to be close to the stage, the actors and the setting is so intimate. The tickets were only $15! I am still amazed at the high quality of theatre you can see in this city for barely the price of a movie ticket.
Here is a brief summary of the play…
“On one side of the looking glass: Crown Assets Corporate Fund. On the other: an absurd and grotesque game, where it takes all the running you can do to stay in the same place. Alice wants to get ahead, but what is she willing to do to get there? Using Alice Through the Looking Glass as inspiration, The Red Queen Effect was collectively created through theatre interviews, improvisation, physical theatre and dance. The Red Queen Effect offers an opportunity to peer through the corporate looking glass at the gender power dynamics that exist in a world ruled by the bottom line.”
The day before I bumped into one of the actors in the play…David Lopez. He mentioned that he was acting in The Red Queen Effect. I had seen him in the play Aint MisBehavin from a few years ago (I had seen that play 5 times…loved it). It is a small world. I am so glad I went. The play was so funny and made you think at the same time. Excellent acting and writing!
I would see it again.
Do you have any upcoming plans to pamper yourself and immerse yourself in some cool art events happening in the city?
